TThis house in the Tarn (south west France), was the last one built by Pierre Debaux in the late 1970s, reuse the plan of an ascending helicoid developed eight years earlier for the Chanfreau house. However here the principle is probably expressed to its fullest. The house develops as an ascending spiral around a central patio so as to orient, successively, the living room facade and then the facade of the bedrooms to the south.

This time the ascencion occurs in such a way as to arrange a continuous path from the entrance to the culminating point of the rooftop. The unified design as conceived is subtly dynamic, with great plastic richness.

Reinforced concrete, omnipresent both in the interior and on the exterior, earned it the ..........Prix de l'Académie d'Architecture for its "beau béton" [ "handsome concrete" ] ......
Nevertheless, the under - surface of the helicoid roof, clad with magnificent permanent formwork in wood, unifies the interior space and, along with the terracotta floor, lends it warmth.
This construction is directly in keeping with Debeaux's research, even as far as representing, through its plan, the most consistent type.
